Our unsolicited Website of the Month is, once again, CVS Stores.

In March 2007, CVS received the 2007 American Society on Aging “Business and Aging Award”, in recognition of their ongoing commitment to recruit, train, and retain older workers.  The 50 Plus Crowd commends CVS on this achievement and has chosen CVS as the Company of the Month for November 2008. We have lots of great links for you to use to access free information and services, such as State and Federal Government websites right on our LINKS page.  Click on the link for your State for links to Vehicle and Licensing services, Health Agencies, State Lotteries, and more.  The Federal Government links include organizations like the IRS, Immigration Services, Medicare, NOAA for up to the minute weather information, the VA, the US Geological Survey, etc.

You will also find miscellaneous links to organizations or companies that are friends of the 50 Plus Crowd because they provide unique services for us or they have organizational policy that favors the 50 Plus Crowd, such as hiring and retaining older workers.

If you are interested in some rather unique vacations that are just what the doctor ordered, visit the Time-out Vacations page to learn about gold prospecting, digging for diamonds, screening for sapphires and other gems, etc.  These are all vacation opportunities right here in the US, and some of them are right in your own backyard….both figuratively and literally!

In my work related travels around the country, I have even eaten at restaurants that I personally feel would qualify as contendors for being recognized as a Site of the Month.  I know there are a lot of Coney Island restaurants in Michigan, but I have to mention the SENATE Coney Island in Dearborn.  While doing some contract work at a site in Dearborn, a co-worker introduced me to the SENATE Coney Island Restaurant at 3345 Greenfield Road.  When I last checked, their hours were from 5 AM to 9 PM everyday except Suday when they open at 7 AM.  Their phone number is 313-441-1027.

The storefront is located in a strip mall and may go un-noticed by many passing through, but the place is always jumpin'.  I was not only impressed with the delicious piping hot lunches, but totally amazed at how fast our lunch would arrive at our table each time we visited.  For a period of almost three months we never had any real complaints.  The waiters and waitresses were always as friendly and helpful as they could be, and the food was always delicious.  In some restaurants it takes longer to get your check and pay your bill than it does to eat your lunch.  Not so at the SENATE in Dearborn.  Everybody in the restaurant hustles and seems to understand how important our time is when we visit them.  I noticed that most of the time there were at least two people at the cash register...one person would handle credit card payment and the other person would handle cash transactions...lightining fast!

If you are going to be in the Dearborn area, for whatever reason, stop in and enjoy a great lunch at the SENATE Coney Island Restaurant.  You can tell them that the 50 Plus Crowd recommended the chilli fries, but watch your cholesterol!
